I smell like a wild animal, but it's alright.
This morning we packed the bags ready with some lunch, camera and a good mood and drove for the hills. The road up to Cuhunu wildlife park goes to an amazing countryside, though with terrible proof still of the great fires that raged through the hills and destroyed 74 homes, earlier this year.
When we eventually got to the spot where the park was marked at the map, it's was oddly enough not there. After driving around in circles, we found someone who informed us that the parked moved 2,5 years ago... So much for trusting the map book and being to lazy to look up the right adress on the internet!
However, 45 minutes later we were finally there.
3 hours later I walked out; smelly, with a smile on my face and the memory card absolutely full..!

Cuddling koalas. There aren't many places you can do this, and the feeling was, well, hard to describe actually. |
A very lazy Dingo, watching your steps as you walked passed him. |
These Dingos had about 30-40 square metres to move around on, some of them looking quite distressed. |
Pelican showing off |
Sleepy kangaroo |
Cheaky Emu, wanting to steal your snacks |
This beautiful deer followed me quietly when trying to have a closer look at the kangaroos! |
Stubborn as a mule was what they called me when I was little. Well, being compared to this darling isn't too bad, is it? |
Western grey kangaroo with her joey. |
The Lama |
A very curious ostrich on the wrong side of the fence! |
At first I didn't see what this "Swamp Wallaby" had in her pouch, but looking closer she had a joey that didn't look very old! |
This joey will live in its mother's pouch for 8-9 months, and may continue to suckle at her feet until 15 months of age. |
What a gentleman, Big Red Kangaroo |
The koala sleeps for 18-20 hours every day, but this one was luckily awake and wanting a cuddle. |
Bara njuuut! <3
